UNC Dataverse designates all published datasets records with a CC0 license by default; however, users can easily customize the Terms of Use for each dataset record in the platform.
If you need to update the terms of use, select a different creative commons license, or provide additional usage requirements for your dataset record, please scroll to the bottom of your draft dataset record, and click on the ‘Terms’ tab. On the right side of this section, select ‘Edit Terms of Use’.
You will be redirected to the Edit Terms of Use page where you may remove the CC0 default public domain license. You will then be able to include your own custom terms of use.
Additional information and conditions for re-use of your data may be included in the metadata fields on the terms of use page. If your data are restricted, please include access request instructions and information in the section labeled ‘Restricted Files + Terms of Access’.
You may also enable or disable your guestbook on the Edit Terms of Use page. See our guide for more information on guestbooks.
When you have finished updating the terms of use, scroll to the bottom of the page and click ‘Save Changes’. Your draft will be updated with the new terms.
